Nick’s News Reports

Nick’s reporting on the Loudoun County Superintendent failing to notify the public of student fentanyl overdoses led to a statewide Executive Order issued by Virginia’s Governor to require all Virginia schools to notify parents within 24 hours of a student overdose.

In 2023, Nick investigated how several local elected officials spent tens of thousands of tax dollars on sister city trips around the world. The series of investigative stories received attention from viewers and from state lawmakers who are now considering changes to travel laws to protect local tax dollars.

Local elected officials claimed their lavish taxpayer funded sister city trips generated more than 2,500 jobs and $1.37 billion in commercial revenue. Nick investigated to see if these economic development claims were true (they weren’t).

Nick uncovered how the top prosecutor in Virginia’s most populous county is using a self deleting messaging app to conduct official business - leading to questions if the elected official is violating Virginia’s FOIA law.

Though Nick focuses much of his time reporting on breaking news, government accountability, and political reporting, he also enjoys telling human interest stories and sharing the good things that are happening in his community.
